He nodded and took in every detail I reported. As he wrote quickly on his pad, he seemed lost in thought. The pen ran incessantly, recording his observations about the unusual creature. “I’ll investigate it further,” he assured me firmly. His concentration was obvious and I watched as he gathered his thoughts. “David, this is really unusual. I need more time.” The determined calm in his tone gave me back a glimmer of hope.
