A Californian Mom, Nadya Suleman, gained so much popularity when she got pregnant and gave birth to eight kids. Yes! That’s right, eight kids in one go. She was then given a pet name Octomom. Even if Nadya and her doctor made a very risky decision, it didn’t stop her. She even received so much affection from other people and supported her journey all throughout. Let’s find out how Nadya became Octomom and how The Suleman’s are doing today.
A Big Family
Nadya grew up feeling like an only child, so she sought the kind of close relationship she never had. Nadya always wanted to have her own children and have a positive relationship with them. However, she wasn’t aware that her desire to have a big and loving family would place her in unusual and, possibly, life-altering circumstances. Despite her great resolve, she fulfilled her dream.
Becoming a Mother
After high school, Nadya set out on a life of course to raise a family, now an adult. Like her peers, she also wished to attend college. Her biggest dream, however, was to be a mother. Everyone also found her a little too green for her own good when she achieved the sort of success she’d desired. All mustn’t let themselves be tempted by wishes.
Nadya’s First Love
Nadya Suleman met product manager Marcos Gutierrez not long before she turned 21. He must have had a lot of charisma because she felt an immediate bond with him, one that developed unique and special over time. Nadya was completely open with Gutierrez about her desire to be a mother. There were no problems at first because Gutierrez just wanted children and was deeply in love with Nadya and vice versa, but destiny had other ideas.
A Risky Occupation
Nadya married Marcos Gutierrez in 1996, the same year she graduated from Mt. San Antonio College with her psychiatric technician license. In addition, she began working at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, California, a psychiatric institution. The work was rewarding, but it wasn’t easy, and it was even dangerous for her. Nadya’s main ambition was to start her own family, but she also wanted to have a meaningful career. However, something bad happened at her job, and her life became a long roller-coaster ride as a result.
Nadya Suleman was working in a psychiatric hospital when she was caught in the midst of a horrific incident on September 18th, 1999. A riot broke out at the facility due to the presence of twenty patients, and Nadya tried to intervene right away. During the commotion, one of the female patients hurled a wooden desk into the air, which landed on Nadya’s back and caused her herniated disc injury. Workers’ compensation provided some relief, and Nadya was awarded $170,000, but the money only helped her get by for a while and was the least of her problems.
A Goal Delayed
Nadya’s job accident not only caused her physical discomfort, but it also caused her emotional distress. Despite the fact that the compensation she received assisted her in dealing with these issues, she was preoccupied with a more pressing issue at the time. Despite her and her husband’s best efforts after the incident, Nadya was still having trouble realizing her lifelong ambition. The two had been trying for three years to fulfill Nadya’s desire of becoming a mother, but no matter how hard they tried, they still came up empty-handed.
The pair decided to visit several doctors in order to figure out what was wrong, and they were able to collect a lot of advice and suggestions about how to become pregnant as a result. Since Nadya and her husband were desperate for a child, they made sure to obey every single task they were given, but they were still unable to conceive despite their efforts. Nadya lost faith in conceiving after failing every time, and she became depressed as a result. Then they discovered the harsh reality: their techniques were perfectly fine, but Marcos Gutierrez was sterile. They couldn’t imagine it the natural way, so other options should be considered.
Nadya’s great desire to have children, as well as her belief that other approaches should be pursued because the conventional approach had failed, prompted her to raise the topic, but Marcos was adamantly opposed to them. Their conflicting viewpoints caused a schism in the relationship, but it was her suggestion of IVF that forced him over the edge (in vitro fertilization). An egg cell is fertilized outside of the body and then implanted into a woman’s uterus in this medical procedure. Marcos clearly warned Nadya that if she went through with the operation, he would abandon her.
A Difficult Choice
Nadya now had to choose between her love for Marcos and the possibility of having children, or her greatest hope of becoming a mother and losing her husband. Finally, Nadya decided to pursue her lifelong ambition and took a huge risk. Despite how difficult it was for Nadya to do so, she divorced in the year 2000. Since her ex-husband was no longer in the picture, Nadya decided to try IVF to start the family she had always wanted, but things didn’t turn out the way she had hoped…
There’s No Such Thing as Free Lunch
Given the fact that IVF (in vitro fertilization) isn’t particularly difficult, its success rate isn’t 100% and it comes at a significant cost. These factors, however, did not deter Nadya in the least, as she was already tired of failing at this stage. In terms of the procedure, most doctors recommend fertilizing a large number of eggs to increase the chances of fertilization success. Actually, the operation carried a major additional risk for Nadya, but would she accept it?
Before undergoing the IVF treatment, Nadya Suleman had to consider one very significant factor: the risk of having multiple babies in the pregnancy due to the possibility that any of the multiple fertilized eggs implanted would survive. In reality, this makes pregnancy extremely risky, but Nadya was determined to start her own family, and her motto appears to be “the more, the merrier.” Despite this, some people believed Nadya should have been concerned, even if only a little, about being pregnant with multiple children at the same time. With hindsight, one might argue that the result was anyone’s guess.
Welcome to This World, Elijah!
Not everyone considers the probability of having multiple babies in pregnancy to be a risk, particularly if they are hoping for twins or triplets. Despite the fact that Nadya had no hopes of having twins or triplets, the IVF procedure produced impressive results. It was a huge success, and Nadya gave birth to her first child, a sweet baby boy named Elijah, in 2001. After all of her struggles, Nadya had finally realized her dream, but she wasn’t finished yet; in fact, she was just getting started.
Babies, Babies, And More Babies!
Nadya gave birth to another IVF boy, a girl she called Amerah, a year after giving birth to Elijah. Many people’s desire for children would be fulfilled after having two children, but not Nadya’s – her positive experience with IVF fueled her desire for more children and motivated her to pursue more treatments. She eventually had two more children and a pair of fraternal twins, making her a mother of six! Even though six children is considered sufficient in countries such as the United States, Nadya felt compelled to have more after her sixth child was born.
An Extreme Decision
Nadya Suleman’s next step stunned the world, and her deliberate decision made her a star overnight in 2008. She went back to Dr. Michael Kamrava, who had done all of her IVF treatments, because she wasn’t happy with just having six children. She wanted another IVF injection, and this time she opted to get all six of her previously unused eggs implanted so they wouldn’t go to waste. Dr. Kamrava was asked to do something by Nadya, who is pro-life, but the story didn’t end there.
Dr. Kamrava was initially hesitant to comply because he was mindful of the grave danger that six eggs implanted at once might pose to the mother. He did, however, claim that he implanted all six eggs because Nadya insisted, despite the fact that she suspected she could be pregnant with several babies. The most intriguing aspect of this whole case, however, is that Dr. Kamrava allegedly inserted twelve eggs, far more than the recommended amount! Such a large risk was bound to have a substantial impact.
Eight Babies on The Way
Nadya Suleman and Dr. Kamrava’s decision was daring and remarkable, as they dramatically deviated from standard medical practice by implanting twelve embryos, though Nadya Suleman has no regrets. Others may have been frightened, but Nadya was giddy with anticipation. Eight of the embryos they implanted stayed in place, and she gave birth to eight babies at the same time. However, what a person wants isn’t always something that they can handle, so Nadya had to ask herself if she was still capable of giving birth to eight children after having already given birth to six.
Mother Of Eight – Octomom!
Being pregnant until term with eight babies put a lot of strain on Nadya’s body, particularly because one is difficult enough and eight is much more than the average. Soon after, the media picked up on her story, and Nadya and her children became celebrities. It was during this time that she earned the nickname “Octomom.” Not all single mothers in California make the news, but Octomom’s celebrity was earned for a reason: Nadya had a world-record-breaking birth.
Eventually, Nadya Suleman, aka Octomom, would have to face the truth: it was time for her to give birth to her children. Fortunately, all of her eight babies were delivered safely, and they were all well when they arrived, which was definitely a big relief for her. It was an incredible sight to see, with the whole world paying attention because there has never been anything like Nadya’s case before, and it has gone down in history. The octuplets Nadya gave birth to set a record for being born alive and surviving for more than a week after delivery, as no other set of octuplets had done so before.
All Eyes On Her
Nadya was so excited to see and keep her new babies at the time, and she couldn’t wait for her six older children to meet their new younger siblings, but the rest of the world was watching her, skeptical of her ability to handle the situation. Having said that, her incredible story became so well-known that everyone, especially those in the medical community, was eager to learn more. Many doctors attempted to speak with Nadya shortly after the birth of her octuplets because her pregnancy was an incredible accomplishment that she and her octuplets had accomplished. People bombarded her with questions and demanded responses.
Her Growing Fame
Nadya had already become a media phenomenon before her octuplets were born, with news outlets, blogs, and newspapers all covering her unusual pregnancy. People began to remember her, and despite the fact that some didn’t know her real name, almost all recognized her as Octomom. Nadya tried to keep hold of the story and the various stories about her, and she considered using the publicity to help support her large family financially. She employed a public relations team after the birth of her octuplets in the hopes of being able to monitor the story that was shared with the public, but this proved to be a challenging job.
A Pubic Persona
After giving birth to her octuplets, Nadya got the same amount of media coverage, earning her a slew of critics who accused her of desiring the limelight and even said that this was the real reason she chose to have all of her children despite the risks she took. Meanwhile, Nadya was preoccupied with adjusting to her new public image and raising fourteen children! Over time, she found that dealing with her celebrity became more complicated. Her pregnancy and delivery were contentious enough, but Californians also accused Nadya of squandering public funds and embodying virtually all that is wrong with modern America, and she was even threatened!
Despite the negative publicity, some people continued to support Nadya and her children, though she gradually reached a point where the media attention was too much for her. When she realized she hadn’t achieved her goal of getting ahead of the plot, Nadya made the decision to share her struggles. As she was interviewed by People magazine, she expressed her feelings about the caricatures that had been made about her. “I only get two to three hours of sleep a night. But I’m continuing to move on with my life and trying to be the best mother I can be,” she explained, despite the fact that her attitude toward the publicity she was getting had several people skeptical of Nadya.
A Grim Situation
Despite the fact that many in America adored her and her many children, Nadya Suleman’s detractors did not back down and continued to share their skeptical remarks even years after she gave birth to her children. This harmed her ability to raise her children, and several sources said she was in a bad situation and at a low point in her life. It’s likely she felt lonely, even though she was the mother of 14 children. Nadya was struggling to raise her 14 children and had no choice but to embrace welfare, despite the fact that she was confronted with a new problem that government aid couldn’t solve.
Problems At Home
During her moment in the limelight, rumors circulated that Nadya was abusing her children. It made sense because becoming a single mother with 14 children must be difficult, and it must take a lot of effort to meet all of the children’s needs. Child Protective Services was also called upon to investigate the situation. They investigated whether it was true that Nadya was neglecting her children, but when they visited her home, they found no evidence of neglect and concluded that the rumors were false – they also believed that her home was appropriate for children.
Forced to Move Out
Regrettably, despite what Child Protective Services said, another person with real control over Nadya’s life vehemently disagreed that her home was appropriate for her children. Her landlord didn’t like the idea and told Nadya that she had broken the terms of her contract. Furthermore, he informed the press about Nadya’s condition before evicting her and her 14 children. Nadya simply wanted to be a good mother to her children, but they were on the verge of being homeless, so she took drastic action.
To Nadya’s disappointment, nothing could persuade her landlord to change his mind, which meant she and her 14 children would have to leave! Despite her negative portrayal in the media, as depicted in caricatures, Nadya Suleman had always been a loving mother to her children, and she insisted that this was the real her. The issue was that she lacked the financial means to keep herself and her children off the streets. Nadya tried her hand in the movie industry, some companies, and even the music industry because she needed money soon.
Being in the spotlight is extremely stressful, and the pressure eventually caught up with Nadya Suleman. When she realized what was going on, she wanted to let go of everything and start over. She made it a point to evolve to become someone who was far removed from the stereotypes that had been formed about her. She understood that improving her life would help her become a better mother to her children and live a happier life, which is why she was able to turn her life around very impressively until she made the decision to change. She changed her name to Natalie at first, then earned a college diploma, started working, and is now a part-time family therapist.
The Solomon Family
The octuplets of Nadya Suleman are now nine years old and doing well. They seem to enjoy their vegan diet, but it cannot be easy for them, as most children fantasize about consuming candies and chocolates. Natalie (previously known as Nadya) stated that her children are aware of her journey because she believes that straightforward parenting and transparency are beneficial to her children. All that has happened to her, including her odd relationship with the media, she believes has worked out in the end. Furthermore, Nadya believes that the way her family lives now is the best way to achieve the objective of a safe home, and her Instagram followers are all too familiar with this notion.
Her Guardian Angel
Natalie Suleman’s life is going well now that she’s in her forties, and she’s left the dubious positions she had previously. When asked why she decided to change, she said that she met her “guardian angel” in February 2013 and that he gave her the strength to quit living a “seedy” lifestyle. Natalie recalled how, while still working in the film industry, a very tall man approached her inside a Florida nightclub and said, “He came straight to me and looked straight into my eyes.” ‘You don’t have to do this,’ he said gently but firmly as he took my hand and grabbed my shoulder. He said it again and again.” Natalie thought the situation was particularly trying, and the tears continued to flow, but she said that it was at that point that her new life began.
Natalie Suleman began a major life overhaul in 2013, admitting that she had been “foolish, childish, and greedy” in the past for raising so many children without giving it much thought. She also acknowledged that she hadn’t given much thought to the consequences of her decisions at the time, but she added that she had no regrets. Natalie continues to concentrate on raising her children because they are her top priority, and she has stated that she is not interested in seeking love at this time because she is content with her celibate lifestyle. People can see the kind of life she is living now with her family on her social media account, as well as the fantastic values and principles she teaches her fourteen children.
A Humble Life
Having fourteen children is no simple task, but Natalie Suleman seems to be succeeding. She actually rents a two-bedroom apartment, and her entire family lives paycheck to paycheck and on food stamps. Natalie told the Daily Mail that she now feels “at ease” after all of the challenges she faced raising so many children on her own, partially because she can use her story to empower and inspire people to make wise decisions. Natalie no longer likes being referred to as “Octomom,” and she admits, “I didn’t want to live.” To live and provide for my family, I felt less than human as the character I was pretending to be.”
No Social Life
Natalie Suleman, a mother of 14 children, is much happier these days as she enjoys life, spending quality time with her youngest children, the octuplets Nariya, Noah, Makai, Maliyah, Isaiah, Josiah, Jeremiah, and Jonah, as well as all of her older children: 11-year-old twins Caleb and Calyssa, 12-year-old Aiden, 14-year-old Joshua, 16-year- Natalie wanted to return to her hometown of Laguna, Orange County, in order to provide a more stable life for her children. She expressed her desire to make her children happy. “I was pushed into doing things I didn’t want to do because I was so afraid I wouldn’t be able to help them and give them the life they deserved,” she told the Daily Mail.
A Normal Family
Natalie Suleman is a very hands-on mother who has chosen to give up her social life entirely, resulting in a close bond between her and each of her children. “They fight, play, fight and play again like any normal family.” Natalie is also dealing with Aiden’s autism, but her children are unfazed and constantly look after their brother. All 14 Suleman children are aware that their home life differs from that of other American families, but Natalie has made it a point to teach her children that being different is okay and that there is nothing wrong with it.
Fun During Holidays
Natalie Suleman and her family may not have it easy, but they are one big happy family, and she makes sure that her children learn positive values like being comfortable with just one present at Christmas. She told US Weekly, “I’m working on raising the kids to concentrate on helping other people, to get out of their own heads.” Natalie claims that by doing so, she is teaching her children the importance of appreciating every little thing they have and not demanding free things in life, implying that they can work hard to obtain the things they want. Apart from these factors, Natalie’s finances simply cannot support a lavish lifestyle, so she keeps things easy during the holidays.
Natalie must be under a lot of stress right now because she is a mother of fourteen! The first week of class is exhausting enough for a parent of one or two children. The 43-year-old mother expressed her worry on social media by posting a picture of her octuplets smiling for the camera before they went to kindergarten. “Are any other parents unusually depressed and exhausted by the first week back to school?” Natalie captioned the photo. Natalie joked that her older children declined to have their picture taken despite their mother’s pleas.
Trying to raise fourteen children ain’t easy, but Natalie has managed to find a way to deal with the demands and tension despite her hectic schedule: she goes to the gym and takes an hour or two for herself. Her social media followers are well aware of this, and she shared a photo of herself working out with the caption, “I’d like to share about how I cope with inordinate stress, after being asked how I stay sane lol.” Natalie also mentioned that exercise has always been her go-to stress reliever. “The tension literally drips off of me, as I’m drenched at the end,” she said. Being physically active has greatly aided me in dealing with many of the difficulties I’ve faced in my life.”
Natalie Suleman is not only a stern mother but also a lot of fun. Natalie enjoys spending time with her daughters, such as having a spa night with them, and she enjoys documenting their experiences with various skincare items and face masks. Natalie ensures that she bonds with her sons by watching scary movies with them because she wants to give each of her children the same amount of time and affection. Her children are unquestionably her highest priority, and she isn’t ashamed to prove it.
Interview with Dr. Oz
Natalie Suleman was invited to share her story on the Dr. Oz show in May of 2018, and she was asked to discuss how she came to the decision to undergo multiple IVF treatments and how she ended up with fourteen children. She also discussed her transformation from Nadya to “Octomom” and eventually to the safe and happy mother she is now. She described her journey, what it was like, the difficulties she encountered, and even the times she felt desperate in providing for her family’s needs. She also had the opportunity to promote her YouTube channel, which she and her children recently launched.
The Genetic Game Of Luck
If you’re curious why you don’t look like your siblings, it’s because of genetic differences. Some children inherit a particular genetic trait and others do not, almost like a game of chance. If you have 14 children, like Natalie, your various genetic characteristics will most likely be conveyed. Natalie adores both of her children and considers herself fortunate that they all have different genes and don’t look alike. Noah and Nariyah, two of her Octuplets, for example, have very different appearances.
The vegan octuplets enjoy eating raw vegetables, maintaining a balanced lifestyle, and participating in marathons together. Natalie’s octuplets ran the Russ Miller Memorial 5-kilometer race in February of 2018, but they do more than just run races; they also help raise money for various causes. The kids enjoy participating in events that benefit others, most likely because Natalie began instilling in them the value of helping others when they were very young, and it seems to be paying off. Natalie’s fans are overjoyed to learn that her children are becoming more compassionate as they grow older.
The octuplets lead very safe and healthy lifestyles, and they work extremely hard on their school ventures. This picture depicts the posters that the students produced for a school project. Natalie dislikes bragging about her children’s achievements, but her fans are curious about what keeps them occupied, so Natalie posts pictures to keep fans updated and to demonstrate that anyone can raise 14 children. Needless to say, her children appreciate all of her hard work and commitment to raising them, as shown by the next surprise they have in store for Natalie.
Natalie believed that everything she does for her children is worthwhile because she receives so much love from them, particularly on special occasions like Mother’s Day. Natalie took a photo of the presents, personalized cards, and handwritten dedications that her children had sent her on that very special day. On a different note, Natalie was inspired to write a book about her experiences as a mother of an autistic child (Aiden) and 13 other healthy children, and she hopes that her book will be written one day. “It’s a story that needs to be told,” she said in an interview with the Daily Mail, “and I think it will inspire a lot of women to draw up power they didn’t know they had.”
Just four of Natalie’s fourteen children are girls, but despite their age difference, they are very similar, and Natalie enjoys spending time and bonding with them. Maliah and Nariyah (9), Calyssa (11), and Amerah (16) are seen in this photo at Amerah’s birthday celebration. You can see a perfect moment Natalie shared with her girls in this picture, as well as their clear similarities. Natalie makes an effort to set aside time each week to bond with her boys and girls separately, but she treasures the moments that she can be with both of her children, which isn’t always possible.
Family Fun Night
Natalie often highlights the significance of family rituals, which ensures that the Suleman’s take their Saturday family night very seriously. This tradition was started by the entire family, and they also name it “Family Fun Night.” They spend Saturday nights together, despite the fact that they have different hobbies. They sometimes play a board game, watch horror movies or films, or discuss different educational topics, but their favorite activities are chess and seeing The Shining. Despite the fact that Natalie’s teenage children despise family traditions and would rather spend time with their friends, the tradition continues, and Natalie’s other children, especially the ten younger ones, enjoy their “Family Fun Night.”
Natalie’s children are aware that they are not like other families, but they accept their differences and enjoy participating in school events together. Natalie is understandably proud of her exceptionally gifted children. This picture shows the kids after they performed in a play at their Orange County school, and you can see how much they’ve developed. Don’t you think they’re lovely and handsome?
Natalie Suleman captioned this photo with “Could we be any more vegan?” on her Instagram account. Her six older children aren’t vegans, but her eight youngest enjoy raw greens, so they eat health shakes, golden or red beets, bell peppers, chard, and organic kale on a regular basis, in addition to home-cooked meals with quinoa and sprouted lentils. The kids’ snacks, such as the green apple raw almond butter combo that they normally have, are also vegan. Natalie was raised as an ethical vegetarian, so she was able to easily transition to a vegan lifestyle, which aided her body’s recovery from the various physical problems brought on by multiple pregnancies.
It’s not easy to get Natalie and her 14 children to pose for a family portrait, so every time they’re all in one spot, it’s worth snapping a photo of them laughing and smiling. “So THIS is what happened when we attempted to take a nice family photo with as many family members as possible,” Natalie captioned a photo on Instagram. Elijah, Amerah, and JJ aren’t in the photo, as is customary.” Natalie can now conveniently share a variety of special moments like this thanks to social media. Her posts are actually more fascinating as we get a peek into her life as a single mother raising 14 children on her own.
Since Natalie only works part-time as a counselor, she came up with the idea of starting her own YouTube channel to reach a broader audience and encourage more people. The first video she shared was a six-minute video of her daughter Amerah reading a letter she wrote for her mother on Mother’s Day. It was shot in Long Beach, California at a women’s gathering. Following Amerah’s voice, the other Suleman children approached Natalie and presented her with gifts. Natalie has been through a lot, and the reason she started her own channel was to be able to share her story, but her children also assist her in running it, posting videos of fun events, grocery shopping, vegan food challenges, and plenty of innovative ideas.
Natalie encourages her children to remain involved and make a difference even on special days like Thanksgiving, so ten of her children participated in the Turkey Trot, a 5-kilometer family race. Their camaraderie is evident in their matching t-shirts. Natalie has a lot to be grateful for and celebrate this Thanksgiving, one of which is her children Noah, Maliyah, Josiah, and Isaiah winning their age groups in the race. Since most of Natalie’s children are vegan, we’re guessing they ate the pumpkin pies instead of turkey for Thanksgiving, which is a special holiday for them.
The Struggle Within
Nadya makes sure to do 10 miles every day on the stair master machine instead of the treadmill. She also has a gym membership at an all-women’s gym, mainly because she suffers from severe social anxiety. Nadya was diagnosed with this when she was a young child. So overcrowding does not help her in any situation. Nadya took this photo below to express her gratitude to the people who sent her some free workout clothes.
Nadya Suleman shared this photo with all her social media followers of herself when she was a young girl. The picture was when she dresses up for Halloween in 1978, with a really cute costume. It seemed as though her mom had dressed her up as a sloppy clown. But nowadays she is proving to the world to be a pretty great mom to her octuplets as well as her other six children. Of course, this cannot be easy at all, but she’s definitely doing an excellent job.
Believe it or not but before Nadya had children of her own, she was a real cat mom. While growing up, she knew was destined to be a mother and needed a way to express her motherly instincts which is why she nurtured so many cats. Despite owning at least 12 cats, one, in particular, stole her heart. Nadya’s mother and brother and her special cat, Boots can be seen in the photo below. Nadya’s children love this photo of their mom, especially daughter Calyssa, who shares Nadya’s love of cats.
One of Nadya’s sons Calebs actually has a striking resemblance to his mother in this photo which was taken when Natalie Suleman was only two years old. This could explain why many of her children are light-skinned, and others are dark-skinned. Nadya really enjoys showing off so many photographs from her past as it really makes her love and appreciates her own family even more. Although raising 14 children is not an easy task, Nadya always maintains a positive attitude by counting her blessings every day.
She posted this and wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to my dad “Eddie.” One follower commented, “Love this. But why have you given your kids Jewish names when your father is Muslim?”. We were actually wondering the same thing, but it’s a good thing that she cleared it all up. She had this to say, “Yes absolutely, and when my father immigrated to America, he befriended many Israelis and loved all people unconditionally.” She added how “This is how I grew up, loving all human beings and embracing differences. Sad how America is so polarized in recent years. I pray one day we will all unite”.
Why We Don’t Hear So Much From ‘Octomom’ Anymore
Not too long ago, Nadya hired a public relations firm and has been cautious about what she says about her family. Another reason is that she is careful and does not want to ‘exploit’ her family. “I have always been against exploiting kids on a “docu-series” or”reality-type show, and all the documentaries we have done have been filmed and aired only in international countries,” Nadya explained in a recent social media post. “At this point, my family and I would be open to an American documentary,” she added, remarking that her children are now older.
Animal Loving Family
The mother of fourteen children is constantly adding animals to their ever-expanding nest. Recently, Nadya shared a photo of her daughter Maliyah and her new cat, whom she refers to as “her BIG baby Penelope.” Naturally, Nadya is just as concerned about her children’s health as she is about the health of her animals. In another post she shared, she noted that the cat is a little overweight and the reasoning might be because her kids are too excited to feed it! “We are following the veterinarian’s diet plan, and hopefully, she will be at a healthier weight soon,” she captioned.
Veggies For Dinner
Many mothers of a large family find it easier to feed their kids the easiest options which means foods that are unhealthy, quick to prepare, or microwaveable. But with Nadya that is not the case, she is always careful to teach her children how to make healthy food decisions. Another one of her recently shared photo was of her son Jonah holding massive green chard that is nearly as tall as he is. “Jonah sharing the soon-to-be-devoured forest before dinner,” she captioned it. So often, people ask her how much grocery shopping she does, and this is what the healthy mother responded, “every two days! In all honesty, shopping for fresh organic produce is the only shopping I love!”
Is A Cookbook On The Cards?
After that, she began to receive a lot of positive feedback from many of her followers for each healthy and delicious-looking meal she posted. “You are an inspiration and should do a cookbook!” said one fan. “The kids would love to help create a cookbook!” she said, suggesting that this is something she might look into in the future. “But first, I’m preparing to publish my memoir,” she added jokingly. Who knows, maybe there will be a cookbook and a memoir in the future! Keep your eyes peeled…
Kids Will Be Kids
“Three little monkeys hanging on a tree, sharing with you all to see,” Nadya titled this cheeky picture of three of her children monkeying around outside. Maybe the reason behind her worldwide popularity stems from the fact that she keeps it real, and her children always appear to be happy, healthy, and playful. She received this great message, “You are doing an amazing job raising beautiful children!” and “I love seeing kids being kids!! Outside! Stay strong, Mama.”
A Birthday Surprise
Another one of Nadya’s recently shared this adorable photo of her birthday breakfast surprise. She said, ” I woke this Sunday morning to 8 amazing kids who surprised me with the best early birthday (big omg) breakfast!” The best part is how much thought and effort her children put into the whole thing. A vegan pancake, peanut butter, maple syrup, organic fruit, vegan mac and cheese, and, of course, coffee in her favorite mug. Everything about the surprise was a healthy, vegan, and organic breakfast.
Busy But Healthy
She titled this post, “Sometimes breakfast and lunch look like this”. Oats, bananas, apples, Maqui Powder, Moringa Powder, Mulberry Berries, Goji Berries, Golden Berries, Fresh Blueberries, and even pineapple and blackberries are among the ingredients. Another devoted fan of hers had this to say, “I love that you and your family are vegan and so healthy! I’m a single mom too; your story inspired me to keep my eyes focused on the babies when there is so much to distract us in the world.”
Is The Diet too Vegan?
However, she did receive some messages of concern that related to her kids being so young and vegan. They expressed that this may not be so healthy for child development. Nadya must be used to criticism by now and replied, “Yes, the little kids and I are vegan! Their pediatrician said they are some of the healthiest kids she has ever seen in her practice.” Another follower gave Nadya all the encouragement she needed with the comment, “Good job, momma, influencing your kids to lead the healthiest lifestyle!
This is one of Nadya’s “pre/post-workout, breakfast, and lunch, in addition to 2-3 gallons of Alkaline water,” she said in the post. She then added, “For dinner, I eat raw vegetables such as organic kale, chard, collard greens, bell peppers, and red or golden beets.” She definitely seems to follow a strict diet. “I grew up an ethical vegetarian; therefore going vegan was not a challenging transition. Becoming raw has only enhanced my health, clarified and strengthened my mind, and helped heal my broken back.”
Not All Vegan
One of the main differences between her older and younger children is that her older ones do not share her points of view. Another post she shared on social media was of one of her younger sons happily shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables at the supermarket. But soon after that, she captioned a photo of her daughter Amerah staring stubbornly at the camera, “The look my daughter gives me when I educate her on the benefits of being vegan.” Even if they don’t share the same viewpoints, the older and younger children appear to be maturing into happy and healthy young adults.
Nadya said, “One of the most important lessons I try to teach you all is that every person that crosses your path is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind, compassionate, and patient with people always; and aware that sometimes the brighter the smile, the deeper the suffering. By looking at your beautiful smile, no one could imagine the struggle you face that we all face daily. We are going through challenges because God only knows, yet those challenges are meant to forge, shape, and strengthen our character. We have to be patient, continue to pray, and never stop working relentlessly and consistently at achieving our goals.”
Where Are The Big Kids?
Nadya Suleman commented, “I am often asked, “where are your big kids” lol…well, they are all healthy, thriving, caring, compassionate towards others, focused on succeeding in school, and very busy socializing with friends. I know where every one of my 14 children is 100% of the time, as I am a very over-protective parent. This is the closest Amerah will get to allow me to show her off on social media, and I respect her choice. My kids are very modest, respect themselves and others, and I admire and love them all more than words or pictures could express.”
Time To Appreciate
Even though Nadya has remarked on how tough it has been for her to raise so many children on her own, however, she still takes time to appreciate what she does have in her life. With the caption “Couldn’t help but pause and take a picture of my little angels,” she shared this adorable photo of two of her beautiful daughters.
On returning to school after the summer break, all her kids appeared to be super excited. Nadya posted this photo and captioned it with, “Had to share the first day of third grade! Caleb and Calyssa didn’t want me to “embarrass” them by taking a pic, lol.” We can only imagine how quiet the house was after once all her kids went back to school.
No Time To Share
By now you must have realized that Nadya is very active on social media, even though her time is limited with 14 children. She took to Instagram and said, “I wish I had the time to share more!”, referring to how difficult it is to find the time. Most of her time is dedicated to taking care of her “severely autistic” son, so it happens that once in a while her social media is neglected,” Nadya added. “Posting twice a month is a good month”. Regardless, the pictures she does post when she has free time are always adorable.
On her Facebook page, she received comments like, “I love how you have changed your life and continued college through it all, and I absolutely adore that your kids are vegan! You’re an inspiration now as a mother of one I need to continue with my masters and or to a Ph.D.”. Another person wrote this, “Your dedication and love to your kids are something half of society lacks. I have 3 in a row as a single mom, and I feel sorry for myself. I enjoy learning from your story and truly feel more positive about things. Keep fighting the fight”.
Happy And Healthy
Most of the time, all her children are photo-ready, full of energy, and wearing the sweetest smiles. Nadya and her kids were at a friend’s pool during the summer, she felt she needed to share this adorable picture so she commented, “It seems like they were just born. Good looking group of kids”. Nadya appears to be doing a good job of raising some happy and healthy children, don’t you think?
Setting The Record Straight
A short while ago, Nadya was interviewed by a New York Times reporter to discuss her life experiences in greater depth. She stated, “I’m at work on a book,” a project she’s been working on for 13 years, and it’s clear she wants to set the record straight finally. “That’s why I want to do this interview. I’ve been writing this manuscript since graduate school.”
Weaving Around The Kitchen
The reporter said, ‘the children moved in unison, weaving around the tight kitchen and adjacent living room, while their mother checked on their brother Aidan, 13, who has autism. It’s hard to believe they all live in the same three-bedroom Orange County townhouse, but he noticed how well they all got along. One child chopped vegetables, another boiled water, another set the table, and so on. The older children kept an eye on the younger ones, as Amerah, 16, cautioned them, “Be careful with that,” while thumb scrolling.
Eating In Shifts
As the interview began, the reporter asked about Nadya’s mealtime routine, especially since all 14 of her children were in the kitchen. Nadya explained, “Because there are so many children, they must all eat in shifts. While the other kids eat, some even sleep on the couch or engage in other activities”. It really seems that this family works together in harmony in this manner, which is very heartwarming to see. Life seems to be great!
