‘Baby I Need Your Loving’ – The Four Tops
Brian Holland called the Four Tops while they were performing in a Detroit nightclub and said he had a song ready for them. They arrived at Hitsville at 2 a.m. after their performance to record “Baby I Need Your Loving,” their debut Motown single.

‘Just My Imagination’ – The Temptations
Eddie Kendricks, who sang lead on the Temptations’ debut single, “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” in 1964, sang the group’s final lead. By the time the song hit No. 1, Kendricks had left the group to pursue a solo career. But he gave it his all on this one: Tempt Otis Williams said he left the studio at 6 a.m. the night they cut it, and Kendricks was still there, working on his part.
