‘I Love Rock ‘N Roll’ – Joan Jett And The Blackhearts
Jett sent her “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” demo to 23 record labels, all of which rejected it. This was her first effort at beginning a solo career after her stint with the Runaways. Tiny Boardwalk Records eventually took it on, however she had to spend $2500 to gain radio rights to the song. The song is now worth $20 million, which is money well spent.

‘Clocks’ – Coldplay
Coldplay was eager to finish their second album and attempted to delay the release of “Clocks” which contains the tossing piano improvisation influenced by Muse. Fortunately, a friend had an idea that would save the day. “He said, ‘You’re talking about the urgency in the lyrics, and you’re talking about holding this song back,'” Chris Martin explained. ” ‘That’s inexplicable.’
